After a straight set victory in the first
round against Melinda Czink, the 2nd round had a tough start. Rubin
lost the first set 0-6 against her opponent, Mary Pierce. She recovered
well, and went on to win the final 2 sets 6-4 6-2.
Another straight set victory for Chandra in round
3 against Austrian Barbara Schwartz. The Austrian lost the match
6-3 6-2.
But it was to be the Russian, Anastasia Myskina,
who was to end Rubin's Australian tour with a great match ending
in 6-4, 4-6, 1-6.
